You Not Loving Me Inspired Me to Write: On How I Began My First Book

Before you say it, I know it’s been awhile. The past few months I have:

– Perfected my fake smile while at work
– Learned how to be a badass personal assitant
– Nailed auditions
– Landed a lead role in a play
– Finally got my reel up onto Actor’s Access
– Dated
– Drank a lot of wine
– Totaled my car
– Fell in love with myself after all of these years
– Loved on my friends harder than ever, because they’re life’s greatest gift
– Been burned
– Done the burning

It’s been eventful around here. Ups and downs. Losses and wins. And a new palate for quality pinot and cynicism.

A couple of months ago, while reading Lena Dunham’s “Not That Kind of Girl,” I got hit with a wave of inspiration to begin writing my own book along the lines of Dunham’s work, as well as Tina Fey’s. A memoir, of sorts, but not of my life exclusively, but of the lives of myself, friends, and strangers alike. Namely sexcapades, because we all have them. Weirdest sexual experience, worst sexual experience, what you learned by loving this man/woman, etc. I want to hear it. The title of this compilation of works, which I’ve been calling it, instead of referring to it as a book, will remain disclosed. I personally think it’s much too clever of a title to divulge at the moment. Stay tuned.

I’ve been working on this for a couple of months, and I know I’ll continue to work on it for some time to come. No pun intended. But I’m excited for it, and I’m feeling a charge of inspiration today, and I have you to thank for that. So, here’s the the boys I’ve loved and to the ones who have let me down. Thank you for being an asshole, a smooth-talker, a man with swagger, and an exceptional kisser. Thank you for telling me what I wanted to hear and for showering me in fancy shit. Thank you for opening the door for me that one time and not fumbling too much when you unclasped my bra. Basically, what I’m saying is, thank you for being you, because it’s you that is making me successful in my creative endeavors. Remind me to cut you a check later and to put a special thanks to you in my future projects, whatever they may be.

Cheers, bitches.
