Happy Tuesday, everyone!
Today was my first day back at work and it has been quite the challenge. I mainly work from home, so I’m my own motivator at times. With the holidays coming to a close and me still being in vacation-mode + the rainy weather we’re having here in Alexandria, I have been feeling all sorts of unmotivated.
Luckily, I got my workout in early this morning (my gym now opens at 5am, which I have a love/hate relationship with), walked the pup
to get steps on my Fitbit because I’m nice and I love him, and had a work meeting.
In-between all of that, I drank delicious homemade iced coffee, researched ways to monetize my blog and write freelance, and gave Powered by Sass a little facelift!
Did you notice?!
Do you like it?!
I decided on a new theme, which omits the scrolling posts at the top and directly guides you to my most recently published content.
Across the top of the page, you’ll also see various tabs: “About Me,” “Contact,” etc., so you’re able to read about the author (moi), as well as services I offer, writing contributions of mine, etc.
You’ll also notice my logo is a bit different.
I’ve omitted the tagline and replaced it with a paper airplane instead.
So why a paper airplane, you ask?
If you’re new to PBS, hello and welcome. If you’re a veteran PBS-reader, then you know I’m a military girlfriend. My boyfriend, Felix, is in the Air Force and is stationed in MD, which is why I moved here.
(You can read more about Dating Someone in the Military, here).
Air Force. Airplanes. Paper airplanes are cute. We travel a lot. There we have it.
I’ve decided to incorporate more posts about military life, specifically being the girlfriend of a service member into my blog. Since there are so many wonderful posts about military spouses (some of my favorites here and here) and not many for girlfriends/boyfriends, I’ve decided to step up to the plate and bring you quality, truthful content myself.
Want to make it even more exclusive? Sign up for my mailing list, which is now conveniently located below the About the Author section in the sidebar! Not only will you receive a notification every time I post, but you’ll also receive content not posted here on Powered by Sass and hopefully in the not-so-distant future, giveaways.
That’s right. FREE STUFF.
So all of these changes are bringing me to some goals I have for my blog in 2017. I’m a huge believer in setting attainable goals for myself and for my projects, and this blog is a huge one for me.
It’s something that I believe in and keep coming back to time and time again, and I want to make it exciting, informative, and entertaining for you and keep it fulfilling for me.
Goals for Powered by Sass in 2017:
- I want to increase my readership.
If you like Powered by Sass, and if you’re a subscriber, thank you! It means so much to me to have “blog fans,” and I love hearing from you! Comment if you like a post, share it on social media if you believe the message will resonate with others, Tweet about it, tattoo it on the small of your back, etc.! You can follow Powered by Sass on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest, did ya know?
- I want to monetize my blog.
Ha-ha! Of course money would come into the mix, but that’s not my #1 goal, though it is, in fact, a goal. I love blogging. Like, oh my gosh, love it. Being transparent is the name of the game (for me, anyway), and I have a goal to begin to monetize Powered by Sass, which would give me financial freedom to dedicate even MORE time to it, it’s mission, and it’s content, which would ultimately benefit you. I read blogs every single day of my life, and I always think, “If they can do it, I can do it.” With that being said, if anyone has any tips/tricks/connections, holla atcha girl.
- I want to connect with other bloggers!
We all want community. No matter what we do. If we’re in school, we have a community of classmates. If we work on an Air Force base, for example, we have a community of other boss Airmen who love America, if we’re at the grocery, we have a community of other people who are buying apples when they really want to buy Oreos. We want to feel like we’re in this together. Blogging is no different. I want to connect with other bloggers like me who are possibly affiliated with the military lifestyle, dedicated to living a healthy lifestyle, who love the arts and fierce, funny women. I want Powered by Sass to be a part of the community.
- I want to create honest, worthwhile, and relatable content that I’m proud of.
In the words of Cheap Trick, I want you to want me. And I want you to keep coming back for more.
I’m going to leave you with a couple of questions, and I’d love to hear back.
What do you like about Powered by Sass?
Why do you read my blog?
What would you like to see more of in the future?
Thanks so much, friends. Here’s to goals and kicking 2017 in the you-know-what.
